The week-long International Minjar Fair in Chamba concluded on August 2, 2026. Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu led the traditional procession on this occasion and immersed the ‘Minjar’ in the Ravi River.

The Chief Minister participated in this procession, which ran from Akhand Chandi Palace to Manjari Garden, featuring a grand procession of local deities. Cultural groups showcased their performances, and men and women dressed in traditional attire also took part in the procession. Tourists enthusiastically joined in this grand event.

Artists playing traditional musical instruments enlivened the atmosphere. Teams from the Himachal Pradesh Police and Home Guards also participated. This event presented a glimpse of Chamba’s rich cultural heritage.

As per the tradition of Minjar immersion, the Chief Minister offered the Minjar to the Ravi River, which included coconuts tied in red cloth, seasonal fruits, and coins. During this, he prayed for peace in the state and the country, as well as for prosperity and a good harvest.

Many dignitaries were also present at the procession, including Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, Vice Chairman of the State Planning Board Bhawani Singh Pathania, MLA Neeraj Nayar, District Congress President Surjit Bharmauri, President of APMC Chamba Lalit Thakur, and Congress leader Yashwant Khanna. Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Repaswal and Superintendent of Police Vijay Kumar Saklani also took part in the procession.
