The Chief Election Commissioner of Himachal Pradesh, Anil Khachi, retired on Wednesday after completing his five-year term. Khachi has also served in the government as the Chief Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary of Finance. Additionally, he has held various important positions during his central deputation. Khachi is a native of Shimla district.
Following his retirement, speculation has intensified regarding the appointment of a new State Election Commissioner. Former Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena and two other former officials are among the potential candidates for this position. The term of the new State Election Commissioner will also be five years.
In addition, appointments are to be made for the positions of Chief Information Commissioner, State Information Commissioner, and Chairman of the Water Commission. The term of the Chairman of the State Water Commission is set to end on August 11.
