Chief Minister Sukhu said that after the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission recommendations in 2022, the salary of job trainee medical officers (specialists) was increased from approximately ₹27,000 to ₹33,660. Now, the current government has directly increased it by 78%, bringing it to ₹60,000.

He stated that the state government’s objective is to attract specialist doctors to government health institutions and provide better medical facilities to the public. The state government has previously increased the stipends for postgraduate (PG) students in medical colleges.

Additionally, the stipends for senior residents, tutor specialists, and super specialists in medical colleges have also been increased by 50% to 170%.

Health Secretary Ashish Singhmar stated that the government is continuously expanding modern technology and medical services while providing better facilities for doctors and healthcare workers. This decision will increase the availability of specialist doctors in government hospitals.
