The state government has decided to deploy approximately 6,200 serving teachers in 145 selected schools in the state with the aim of improving school education and strengthening the CBSE system. Despite preparations being completed at the departmental level, the process has not progressed due to the absence of a final notification.
According to sources, teachers will be asked to provide three school preferences for the appointments. Following this, deployments will be made based on their academic qualifications, service records, experience, and merit. The government’s objective is to ensure the availability of qualified and experienced teachers in these CBSE schools so that students can benefit from a better academic environment.
However, after the cabinet’s decision, the teaching community hoped that the appointment process would begin soon, but the lack of a notification has left the entire exercise in limbo. Several teacher organizations are also urging the government to issue clear orders promptly to eliminate the uncertainty surrounding the appointments. Education Minister Rohit Thakur stated that the notification will be issued soon and that work on formulating the rules is ongoing.
Despite the new appointments in the state, some serving teachers will continue their services in CBSE schools. Approval has been granted to retain some teachers in their old schools as needed. Initially, a cadre strength of approximately 6,200 positions was determined for 136 schools for CBSE. Now, the number of such schools in the state has increased to 158, with 145 schools currently operational. Given the steadily increasing enrollments in these schools, the demand for teachers has also risen.
In this situation, even after the appointment of qualified teachers through the selection examination, a significant number of positions may remain vacant. Therefore, a decision has been made to continue the services of old teachers to accommodate additional positions.
There will be large-scale transfers of teachers from CBSE schools in the coming days. Selected teachers will be adjusted by sending several old teachers to other schools. Under this process, transfers of teachers from multiple schools are expected.
To expedite the promotion process for headmaster positions in government schools, the Directorate of Education has issued instructions to make the annual confidential reports (ACRs) of 281 TGT teachers from across the state immediately available. All district deputy directors have been asked to send the ACRs of the listed teachers to the directorate within four days so that the long-pending promotion process can be completed in a timely manner.
